Few comments from my day at the Solutions Hamburg Event:
- The keynote presentation by Gapminder was very enjoyable and quite informative (even if a bit stale and quiet if you used to watch Hans Rosling’s TED presentation): it was a pity it was a non sequitur compared with the rest of the conference.
- From a strategy day in a top conference, I had expected to get many insights in new trends, strategic projects and technical solution: unfortunately I was pretty much disappointed, I felt more as being the target of a continuous sales pitch supported by slim project based evidence than brought up to speed on what’s going on outside my company and provided a vision of the future.
- No AI without IA. I love the word game from IBM aimed at highlighting the need to get the right architecture for artificial intelligence in place.
- The tide seems to be shifting - AI (and analytics tools) are more and more widespread but they are becoming uncool again, the focus is moving more towards onboarding people, coaching them about digital capabilities and offering them easy paths to continuously learn and create new ways of working. In such a context, capturing people capabilities, anticipating future needs in terms of technology/mindset/activities/culture and bridging the gap via personalized development path (i.e. combination of on the job experiences and targeted trainings, more and more experiential ones) is really key.
- The people competence managers being implemented at Schaeffler are very intriguing. They should take care of upskilling and continuously develop between 30 and 40 colleagues from different and disparate backgrounds who works in different agile teams within the same portfolio.
Sessions I attended:
- For a fact-based worldview - Anna Rosling Rönnlund - Gapminder
- We have tested the public on the basic global development trends and people seem to be completely misinformed about how the world looks like. Anna will dismantle the three mega-misconceptions that shape our worldview showing what the world really looks like in a way that everyone can understand.
